Local readiness continuation — 19 October 2026

Publication note: this release carries the 8,319-entry/329-source Atlas snapshot and two new native grounds. The sections below record local reviews before this catalog batch; their pending-catalog statements describe those earlier checkpoints. The non-periodic renderer and 329-source game manifest remain local, while the production game stays pinned at 322. Detailed JSON evidence is in the repository. Inspect the public quality-update collection.

Upland and broader-library checkpoint

Upland v2 now has individual four-hex ground approval after eight connected desktop/phone Region/Hex candidate/control captures. Local source approvals total 329; the reviewed candidate manifest and integrated f8c9efd55699cd5d snapshot match. Earlier 328-source and unapproved-upland notes below describe prior checkpoints. The working scope remains 8,355 present/decoded records, including 8,319 registered assets and 36 native history files. The background subset remains 988 records, now 88 source-approved, with six sources having independent visible-contribution evidence. No full-goal acceptance is inferred.

Eight additional ground originals receive exact reviewed links to existing role-compatible outputs without new painting or approval of the originals. Ocean and tundra source contribution is independently verified by sixteen additional captures. Three specifically flagged ecotone/apron sources retain individual geometry/contact next actions. The full background and asset scopes remain active.

Fifty more exact runtime portraits were inspected on native-aspect sheets 1–2: forty-five retain their artwork for context checks, and five Ash Plain portraits require an explicit volcanic role decision. Fifty native source/runtime relationships are linked reciprocally, supported by declared manifest bindings, exact file hashes and filtered RGB/alpha comparisons. No native PNG visual approval or true generation history is inferred from those bindings. Aliased comparison references are superseded diagnostics; no artwork bytes changed. See docs/art-direction/classic-source-review-20261019/runtime-review-decisions.json and source-runtime-comparison.json.

The local Atlas still has sixteen quality-update paintings. The current queue contains 129 changed metadata rows and two new maintained native files. Public readback confirms the live Atlas remains unchanged at 8,317 files/326 source approvals and the game at 322 sources. The next Atlas batch is prepared separately from local renderer/game changes and preserves newer main-branch terrain-lighting work.

Subsequent grass/hills and upland checkpoint

The current local scope is 8,355 decoded records, 8,319 registered assets and 36 native history files. All are present. Exact source approvals total 328; no full-goal acceptance is inferred. The background/transition subset contains 988 records with 87 source approvals. Earlier paragraphs below retain the preceding checkpoint.

WOG-A-008318 now has individual source approval at two hexes. The unchanged primary grass/hills painting WOG-A-003576 receives a separate two-hex scale review. Four-hex native detail looked too large beside actual Hex vegetation; the one-hex trial lost too much Region definition. The two-hex choice was inspected in sixteen candidate/control captures across grasslands and hills, desktop and phone, Region and Hex, with no browser errors. The final local 328-source whitelist version 48cb5677a0ed6cf5 exactly matches both tested candidate manifests. Source approval, context contribution, full performance and production appearance remain distinct. See hills evidence (hills-world-scale2/appearance-review.json), grassland evidence (grasslands-world-scale2/appearance-review.json), the exact decisions (grass-hills-source-decisions.json) and the visual comparison (scale-and-upland-review.html).

Validation for this checkpoint: 75 focused tests pass (29 approval/material/history checks and 46 metadata/native-sampling/context contract checks). Wiki build and consistency check pass. See the validation receipt (continuation-validation.json).

Eight existing ground replacements were reconciled from historical exact-file review receipts without new painting or approval. Original metadata now links to its replacement, and the replacement links to its superseded ID; both original images and their false approval flags remain intact. See the links (existing-ground-replacement-links.json). No historical record is exempted from this goal.

Upland WOG-A-008319 uses native v2 (SHA-256 a66fab4cd59fe49d33adb7f9bc788ad8194eff98ab6fd62a86a52e212288b8f2). V1 retains too much shrub/ridge structure and is rejected. V2 preserves olive mineral earth and fine slate with those baked features removed. Browser continuity has zero pan difference and maximum CPU/GPU difference below one RGB level; connected context and source approval remain pending. Both native revisions are retained with prompts in tile-library/readiness-previews/2026-10-19-mountain/.

The local Atlas checks all sixteen update hashes and shows all sixteen entries on desktop and phone, without browser errors. The sync queue contains nineteen changed metadata rows and two new maintained native files; source manifests, renderer and UI remain local. Live retains the approved 8,317-file Atlas and 322-source game whitelist. This continuation does not publish any additional payload.

The approved atlas-only release 49cd604 remains live with 8,317 maintained files. This continuation is local and queued separately. It preserves all uploaded originals and previously published native bytes.

The wetland v4 (WOG-A-008317, SHA-256 09270d2fdc931f913be2e85e6de47d3f740d2dd6b77f99598f7c25e6531c2428) received individual source approval for opaque wetland ground, span four hexes. Its exact painting is unchanged. Its corrected catalog contract no longer inherits rejected-revision tags or a reference-only role. Local approvals total 327; the published atlas still has 326 source approvals and the deployed game whitelist remains 322.

The regular triangular blend exposed a faint diagonal luminance lattice. Local regional-material-5 displaces blend boundaries smoothly in world coordinates while preserving native grain direction and scale. CPU and WebGL use the same field, bounded crops and no source wrapping. An adversarial gradient diagnostic improves the straight-grid luminance envelope from 13.945 to 3.994 RGB RMS. All eleven primary material profiles have zero measured pan-overlap difference, less than 0.652 RGB maximum CPU/GPU difference and no browser errors. Completed warm GPU draws with readback took 11.5–27.5 ms on this desktop. These are material benchmarks, not a whole-game or phone-device performance claim.

The wetland source is selected and makes a visible contribution in a normal disposable connected world. Candidate/control manifests differ only by this exact approved source; image bytes and simulation entities remain intact. Browser-composited map captures include the actual static ground and Hex layers. Desktop Region/Hex comparisons change 12.54%/25.53% of pixels; phone-layout comparisons change 2.10%/24.85%. All four gates pass without page errors. See appearance-review.json (wetland-world/appearance-review.json). The earlier overlay-only comparison used the transparent interaction canvas and is explicitly superseded. A visible contribution does not establish complete biome presentation, neighbor/reload/performance acceptance or live production appearance.

A new hills correction removes miniature hill chains and trees baked into WOG-A-001503's ground. Its native olive grass/earth/slate painting retains detailed material quality. WOG-A-008318 is registered locally as an unapproved candidate, with generation prompt, reference and immutable native bytes in tile-library/readiness-previews/2026-10-19-hills/. Its browser surface passes continuity and CPU/GPU checks. Connected hills role, scale and contact review remain pending. No other hills original is approved or silently superseded by this candidate.

The working inventory now has 8,352 present, decodable records: 8,318 registered assets and 34 native review-history files. The inclusive background/transition backlog has 987 files, 86 individually source-approved, with no blanket full-goal acceptance. The sync queue names the wetland metadata-only update and the new hills native file. Neither is represented as published.

Validation: 44 focused approval, byte-retention, terrain-material, cache/readiness, cancellation, header, shore and renderer tests pass; eleven browser material profiles and eight wetland candidate/control captures pass. Required design/wiki explanations are updated with this local scope. Full-library quality work remains active.

Local Atlas validation additionally found and fixed approved replacements disappearing from Asset quality updates when routed by the local whitelist. All fifteen updates now load at desktop and phone widths without browser errors; see local-atlas-review.json. The published collection is unchanged until the queued UI and catalog changes ship.
